The NHL trade deadline is 3 PM ET today. Read on for all the latest rumors from around the league.

NEW YORK POST: Jay Greenberg suggested the Rangers recent loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning were the hockey gods telling GM Glen Sather not to worry giving up an extra piece, like perhaps forward Artem Anisimov, to land Brad Richards from the Dallas Stars.

NJ.COM: Rich Chere reports Devils center Jason Arnott is willing to waive his NMC for the right team, which wouldn’t be one battling to make the playoffs as Arnott feels he’d be better off in that case staying with the Devils.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: In other words, a Cup contender.

DENVER POST: Adrian Dater reports Colorado Avalanche defenseman John-Michael Liles is wondering if he’s played his final game with the club.

LOS ANGELES TIMES: Helene Elliott reports two NHL sources claim the Dallas Stars don’t want to trade Brad Richards and still hope to re-sign him. The Kings are interested in Edmonton’s Ales Hemsky but not at the cost of prospect Brayden Schenn. The Oilers apparently want NHL-ready players in return. The Kings are also believed interested in Florida’s David Booth, and Elliott suggested Jason Arnott of the Devils might also be of interest for LA.

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES: Adam L. Jahns reports Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman continues to aggressively shop for depth at center and the blueline. He’s unwilling to move a roster player but would part with draft picks or prospects. They have more cap space after Nick Boynton was claimed by the Philadelphia Flyers.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I expect the Blackhawks will make at least one deal today but don’t expect a blockbuster or a major “name” to join them.

MONTREAL GAZETTE: Red Fisher suspects Canadiens GM Pierre Gauthier could be considering a deadline day deal to bolster his forward lines, but noted adding a player like New Jersey’s Jason Arnott could come at a steep asking price.

COLUMBUS DISPATCH: Aaron Portzline reports Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson has inquired about Dallas’ Brad Richards and Colorado’s John-Michael Liles. Portzline believes the latter would be the most affordable to acquire. The Blue Jackets weren’t on Liles list of preferred destinations but a source claimed Liles could agree to waive his trade clause if the Avs and Blue Jackets work out a deal. Edmonton’s Ladislav Smid and the Islanders Radek Martinek could also be on Howson’s target list.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Portzline suggests Howson could ultimately make a depth addition or two today.

BUFFALO NEWS: John Vogl reports Sabres GM Darcy Regier might not be done dealing after acquiring Brad Boyes from St. Louis earlier this morning. A source reported the Sabres have already rebuffed one team’s interest in center Tim Connolly.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Sabres are now buyers, not sellers, so Connolly and defenseman Steve Montador probably won’t be moved.
