Mark Stepneski of Andrew’s Dallas Stars page and ESPN.com reports a Dallas Stars official said his club has signed winger Michael Ryder, for two years, $3.5 million per season.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Stars needed to replace the departed James Neal, whom they dealt to Pittsburgh last season for Alex Goligoski. Ryder is an experienced scoring winger, usually averages between 25-30 goals per season, but he also has a reputation for being streaky. While the Stars aren’t committing as much as the Bruins did to sign him a few years ago, it’s still perhaps $1 million per season too expensive. Still, they need scoring depth, and Ryder should help.
