TSN’s Bob McKenzie reports via Twitter the Carolina Hurricanes have re-signed recently acquired center Jordan Staal to a ten-year, $60 million contract.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Yes, it’s the same terms as he was offered by the Penguins prior to his being dealt to the Hurricanes. It’ll average out to $6 million per season, a lot of money for a player who is one of the top two-way centers in the game, but has never scored more than 29 goals or 50 points in a season to date. He’s only 23, and will undoubtedly have the opportunity to prove himself worthy of that salary as a first line center. The Hurricanes are obviously not pinching their pennies this summer.
