PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW/NORTHJERSEY.COM: Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz each had a goal and two assists to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 5-1 win over the New Jersey Devils. The Penguins put the game away in the third period with three unanswered goals. Martin Brodeur made 30 saves for the Devils, while Andy Greene netted their only goal.
THE TENNESSEAN/MERCURYNEWS.COM: Craig Smith scored the winning goal as the Nashville Predators edged the San Jose Sharks 2-1 in a shoot-out, handing the Sharks their first loss of the season. Predators goalie Pekka Rinne made 26 saves for the win. The Predators’ Sergei Kostitsyn and the Sharks’ Martin Havlat were the only scorers in regulation.
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS/TAMPA BAY TIMES: The New York Rangers secondary scoring finally came through, as Derek Stepan and Carl Hagelin each scored in a 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Rick Nash also scored for the Rangers, while Steven Stamkos netted both Lightning goals. Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier took a shot off his left foot late in the game and will be re-evaluated today.
ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER/LOS ANGELES TIMES: Nick Bonino’s hat trick carried the Anaheim Ducks to a 7-4 win over the Los Angeles Kings. Ryan Getzlaf, Teemu Selanne, Kyle Palmieri and Sheldon Souray also scored for the Ducks, while Dustin Brown potted two of the Kings four goals.
PHILLY.COM/NEWSOBSERVER.COM: The Philadelphia Flyers power-play was the key factor in their 5-3 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes, going 3-for-six with the man advantage. Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov turned in another solid performance with 39 saves. Eric Staal, Joni Pitkanen and Patrick Dwyer tallied for the Hurricanes.
COLUMBUS DISPATCH/DETROIT NEWS: Artem Anisimov scored twice and Steve Mason made 32 saves as the Columbus Blue Jackets dropped the Detroit Red Wings 4-2. It was a costly win for the Blue Jackets, as defenseman James Wisniewski left the game with a concussion after falling awkwardly into the boards during the second period. Johan Franzen and Damien Brunner were the goalscorers for the Wings.
ARIZONA REPUBLIC/DALLAS MORNING NEWS: The Phoenix Coyotes bounced-back after dropping the first game of a back-to-back series on Friday against the Dallas Stars with a 2-0 victory in the second game on Saturday. Mike Smith made 17 saves for the shutout, while Nick Johnson and Mikkel Boedker provided the game’s only goals. Penalties proved costly for the Stars, who visited the sin bin eight times compared to the Coyotes being penalized only twice.

WASHINGTON POST: Capitals defenseman John Erskine was suspended three games for elbowing Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds in the head during Friday’s Capitals-Flyers game. Simmonds suffered a concussion and is out indefinitely.
