The Minnesota Wild have acquired Matt Moulson and Cody McCormick from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for center Torrey Mitchell.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: After being acquired from the Islanders by the Sabres’ previous management earlier this season, Moulson is on the move again. The three-time 30-goal scorer should be a welcome addition to the Wild, who are among the lowest-scoring teams in the league. He’s also an unrestricted free agent this summer. Odds are the Wild won’t re-sign him if, as rumored, Thomas Vanek (the guy Moulson was swapped for earlier this season) signs with them. On the other hand, he could be a good “Plan B” if Vanek opts to sign somewhere else. Mitchell had requested a trade so McCormick becomes his replacement.
