The latest speculation on Ryan Kesler, Tyler Myers, Matt Moulson,Jared Cowen and more.
CBC.CA: Elliotte Friedman reports it’s believed the six teams to which Ryan Kesler would waive his no-trade clause for were Anaheim, Chicago, Colorado, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay. Of these, only Anaheim and Pittsburgh were in the bidding…Friedman claims speculation the Oilers took a long look at Buffalo’s Tyler Myers was quickly shot down…Senators GM Bryan Murray received some calls about defenseman Jared Cowen but didn’t bite.
STLTODAY.COM: Jeff Gordon recently speculated the Sabres could shop defensemen Tyler Myers and Christian Ehrhoff along with forwards Chris Stewart and Drew Stafford…Capitals GM George McPhee is in the final year of his contract. This season’s outcome could determine his future…Gordon speculates the Blue Jackets could be willing to spend this summer after dumping Marian Gaborik at the trade deadline. He suggests Matt Moulson as a possible candidate…He also suggests the Ducks could be busy in this summer’s trade market.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Anaheim and Pittsburgh could be the prime bidders again this summer for Kesler. Given the Ducks’ depth in promising young forwards, it could give them an edge over the Penguins, but the Canucks could be unwilling to move Kesler to a Western Conference team…The Sabres will entertain offers for Myers but it doesn’t mean they’ll move him. Expect the Sabres to set a high asking price for him. I expect there will be interest in Ehrhoff, who could be easier to move even with his no-trade clause…Despite Cowen’s struggles this season I daresay he’s among Murray’s untouchables…Since acquiring Gaborik at last year’s trade deadline and signing Nathan Horton last summer, Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen proved he’s willing to make big moves. Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s active again this summer.
