CHICAGO TRIBUNE: Contract talks between Blackhawks management and superstars Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane continue. The Blackhawks hope to re-sign the duo to extensions before their eligibility for UFA status next year. Each could land deals worth $10 million annually. The club also re-signed forward Peter Regin to a one-year, $650K contract.
BUFFALO NEWS: Long-time Sabres broadcaster Rick Jeanneret has been diagnosed with throat cancer. The prognosis is he has an 85 percent chance of recovery, and he hopes to return to work this coming season following his recovery.
