The Philadelphia Flyers have dealt defenseman Andrej Meszaros to the Boston Bruins for a third round pick.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Flyers’ addition yesterday of Andrew MacDonald from the Islanders made Meszaros expendable. He’s also a UFA this summer and wasn’t going to be re-signed. The Bruins have sought a short-term replacement for the sidelined Dennis Seidenberg.
Meszaros had an up-and-down career with the Flyers. Some seasons, he was among their best defensemen. In others, like this season, he struggled. He could regain his game with the Bruins under coach Claude Julien. Still, it’s also worth remembering the Bruins acquired Tomas Kaberle three years ago and he didn’t really mesh well with them. Could the same happen with Meszaros? Or will he be a better fit? Time will tell.
