The Chicago Blackhawks have dealt forward Michael Frolik to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for the Jets third and fifth round picks.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Having already traded Dave Bolland and his $3.375 million salary for next season to the Maple Leafs, the Blackhawks salary dumping continues by moving Frolik and his $2.333 million cap hit (actual salary for next season $1.9 million) to the Jets.
A former 40-plus point men earlier in his career, Frolik became more of a checking line winger with the Blackhawks. Only 25, he could perhaps see action on the Jets scoring lines next season.
He’s only got one year remaining on his contract, so this is an affordable acquisition for the Jets which could pan out in the long term if he can regain his offensive touch.
