Avalanche re-sign Johnson.

Johnson get 4-year deal with Avs.

The Colorado Avalanche have reportedly re-signed defenseman Erik Johnson, to what’s believed a four-year, $15 million contract, for an average annual salary of $3.75 million.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: A good raise over the $2.6 million Johnson earned last season. He had 26 points in 73 games last season with a plus-minus of -7, but was the Avs best offensive blueliner, and at 24, his best years are still ahead of him. Affordable re-signing by the Avs of a blueliner they consider the future anchor of their defense corps.

  1. BESTS FREE AGENT SIGNING OF THE SUMMER

arguably the best skater not named parise this free agent period

AND he backchecks with speed after rushing the puck into the scoring areas END to END a great #1 defender that is still slightly under the radar despite being a #1 overall pick.

AVS were the most entertaining team to watch last spring that missed the playoffs.

  2. Wasn’t a hard signing when he was Restricted.

  3. Very underrated player (actually gets little respect), good signing for Avalanche.
