The Denver Post reports the Colorado Avalanche have re-signed winger Cody McLeod to a three-year contract extension. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
McLeod, 27, played the past five seasons with the Avalanche and was eligible for unrestricted free agency this summer. He had six goals, 11 points and 164 PIMs in 75 games in 2011-12.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: McLeod earned an average annual salary of just over $1.033 million on his last contract. Should be an affordable re-signing by the Avs, who obviously value his physical play.
**UPDATE** McLeod’s contract is worth $3.5 million, or an average cap hit of $1.166 million per season, a slight raise over his previous salary.
