Blackhawks re-sign Oduya.

Various sources report the Chicago Blackhawks have announced the re-signing of defenseman Johnny Oduya to a three-year contract. Financial terms weren’t disclosed. Oduya was eligible for unrestricted free agency on July 1st. The club also officially announced the re-signing of forward Jamal Mayers to a one-year extension.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: No surprise the Blackhawks re-signed Oduya, as he was a good fit on their blueline after joining them in a late-February trade from Winnipeg.  He’s coming off a three-year deal which paid an average annual salary of $3.5 million per season. He’ll likely get around the same from the Blackhawks.

**UPDATE** Oduya accepts a modest decrease, as his new contract is worth $3.375 million per season. Flat rate, no front-or back-loading.
