Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports the Blue Jackets have re-signed defenseman Marc Methot to a four year, $12 million contract.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: That’s an average cap hit of $3 million per season, quite the pay bump for Methot, who earned just over $1 million per season on his last contract. Although he was one of the Jackets best blueliners last season, that seems a bit of an overpayment for a blueliner of his skills. Blue Jackets fans, feel free to counter my claims.

That’s Blue Jackets fans. Repeat: Columbus Fans. Anyone? Anyone….

  2. MITA says:

Methot is a solid, smart young blueliner. Big, strong and has some quickness. Can pinch if needed.

He is just going to get better.
