TSN and RDS report the Columbus Blue Jackets have dealt goalie Steve Mason to the Philadelphia Flyers for a third round pick and Michael Leighton.

Mason dealt to the Flyers.

Mason dealt to the Flyers.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: No, don’t laugh, this really happened. Nearly two years after the Flyers shipped Sergei Bobrovsky to the Blue Jackets in the Jeff Carter trade, one year after the Flyers shipped Sergei Bobrovsky to Columbus for draft picks, the Blue Jackets have traded their former starter, who has struggled for years to regain his 2009 Calder trophy form. Evidently, the Flyers had no confidence in their backups. Mason will get a chance to prove himself with the Flyers, but it’s a tough market he’s going to. He’s a restricted free agent this summer. As for Leighton, he probably won’t see much playing time, as Sergei Bobrovsky will carry the Jackets for the rest of the season.

Bobrovsky was traded to CBJ this past off-season and wasn’t part of the Carter deal.

You didn’t mention the bottle of lubricant that went to the Flyers, ’cause they got f*cked.

  3. Chris says:

FYI: Flyers got Voracek for Carter.
