Blues re-sign Jackman.

Jackman staying with Blues.

Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports via Twitter the Blues have re-signed defenseman Barret Jackman to a three-year, $9.5 million contract extension. The breakdown will be $3 million next season, followed by two seasons of $3.25 million per. The average annual cap hit will be $3.16 million, and is a slight reduction by about $500K per season from his previous deal.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Jackman has been a long-time part of the Blues defense, and last season was one of his best, though his post-season stats weren’t particularly memorable. Still, they know what they have in Jackman, and decided it was best to stick with him, rather than find a suitable replacement in a thin UFA market.

  1. Not a bad deal at all. He would have got a little more from someone else, but he’s been there a while and the blues are on the upswing I think.
