The St. Louis Blues have announced the re-signing of defenseman Jordan Leopold to a two-year, $4.5 million contract.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Leopold, 32, joined the Blues late in the season in a trade with the Buffalo Sabres. His new deal is worth an average annual cap hit of $2.25 million.
Though not a physical blueliner, he’s capable of logging big minutes and can chip in offensively from the point. His experience is likely why the Blues wish to retain him and have opted to
buy out put Kris Russell on waivers.
Overall, it’s a good, affordable short-term deal by the Blues to provide an extra measure of experienced skill on their blueline.
