The St. Louis Blues have re-signed center Patrik Berglund to a three-year. $11.1 million contract extension.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: That breaks down to an annual cap hit of $3.7 million. Berglund was slated to become a restricted free agent with arbitration rights. He earned $3.25 million on a one-year deal this past season.
Berglund struggled this season after moving from center to wing, with only 32 points in 78 games. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Jeremy Rutherford suggests the timing could mean Berglund could be used in a trade. Rival clubs might have more interest in him if he’s under contract. We’ll find out soon enough if he’ll be staying in St. Louis.
