The St. Louis Blues have dealt forward Matt D’Agostini and a conditional seventh round pick in 2015 to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a conditional fourth or fifth round pick in 2015.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Some might consider this trade “the first domino” to drop before the trade deadline. It’s not. This move was made by the Blues to free up a roster spot for the returning T.J. Oshie. He’s also slated to become a restricted free agent this summer, and the cost-conscious Blues have better ones (Alex Pietrangelo, Kevin Shattenkirk, Chris Stewart and Patrik Berglund) to re-sign. The Devils, meanwhile, currently have a couple of forwards (Alexei Ponikarovsky, Dainius Zubrus) sidelined by injuries, so D’Agostini could be used to provide additional depth up front.

underrated shot. He can produce when he gets his head right.
