Would the Canucks have beaten the Blue Jackets with Luongo in goal?…Bruins will face a different Maple Leafs team…Andy Sutton returns to Oilers blueline…Senators down the Jets…Flames shut out Predators…Louis Leblanc thrilled to be called up by Canadiens.

VANCOUVER PROVINCE: Tony Gallagher believes an “amusing” question asking if the Canucks would’ve beaten the Columbus Blue Jackets if Roberto Luongo were in net was “unfair as it is unanswerable”, then proceeds to answer it anyway, suggesting the outcome indeed might’ve been different.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Meanwhile, Cory Schneider had a stellar performance, facing 48 shots in the Canucks 4-1 victory.

TORONTO SUN: Lance Hornby believes the Boston Bruins will face a bigger, faster Maple Leafs team than the one they humbled 7-0 in their previous meeting nearly a month ago.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: That’s as may be, but will the Leafs be able to beat the Bruins? And will the B’s continue to have Phil Kessel’s number?

EDMONTON JOURNAL: Defenseman Andy Sutton is ready to return to action after missing time to injuries and the flu.

OTTAWA CITIZEN/WINNIPEG FREE PRESS: Reaction from the Senator defeating the Jets 6-4 in Winnipeg last night.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Dumb defensive mistakes cost the Jets in that loss. It’s an ongoing problem the coaching staff continue to address.

CALGARY HERALD: Flames goalie Miikka Kiprusoff kicked out 26 shots en route to a 1-0 shutout victory over the Nashville Predators.

MONTREAL GAZETTE: Canadiens prospect Louis Leblanc is thrilled to be called up as a short-term replacement for the suspended Max Pacioretty. LeBlanc was expected to spend the entire season with the Habs AHL affiliate in Hamilton.

  1. This home and home with Boston will be quite the test for the Leafs as not only are they playing a nemesis, but they are trying to win with many regulars out as well

  2. No doubt Leblanc will get some good advice from rookie center David Desharnais.”Take advantage of your chance and make the best of it.” The Habs rookie knows what he is talking about.
