SPECTOR’S NOTE: This is seen as an insurance move for the Habs as starter Carey Price remains hampered by a lower-body injury. He’s not expected to be sidelined for long but this move suggests he could be out longer than anticipated.

This is the second time Dubnyk’s been traded this season. He was shipped to the Predators from the Edmonton Oilers. An unrestricted free agent at season’s end, the former Oilers’ starter has seen his stock drop significantly this season. Expect him to back up Peter Budaj until Price returns to action.

  1. Haven’t been able to find anywhere what the considerations were. Any clue on this?

    • Just says “future considerations”.

      • With Rinne’s return as well as Hutton and Mazanec playing rather well in the wings, can’t say this is too surprising.

        • Especially as they recently placed him on waivers.

    • Maybe the considerations are that the Canadians are considering charging the Preds to take him off their hands.

      • With Price maybe sidelined for a bit here, he’s not a bad guy to have around (even if he’s on an off year).

        • Agreed, always worthwhile to have some insurance.

        • He’s having an off “career”, he will end up in the minors and stay there forever.
