Ekman-Larsson gets a six-year extension with Coyotes.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Ekman-Larsson is only 21 and coming off his entry level contract, but like the Ottawa Senators with Erik Karlsson, the Coyotes know they’ve got a star on their hands who will only get better. This season, he’s among the Coyotes leading scorers, leads the club in ice time and plus-minus, and is among the leading scorers for defensemen in the NHL. Yes, $5.5 million per season is a significant raise, but he’s earned it, and will continue doing so over the course of his new deal.
