TSN’s Darren Dreger reports the New Jersey Devils have re-signed Bryce Salvador to a three-year, $9.5 million contract, worth an average cap hit of around $3.16 million per season.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: A year ago, Salvador missed the entire 2010-11 season to concussion, leading some to wonder if his career was over. He bounced back with a steady performance in 82 regular season games, but turned it up offensively in the post-season, with 14 points in 24 games. Devils fans shouldn’t expect that kind of offensive output to continue, but if Salvador can remain healthy, he’ll continue to be a reliable part of New Jersey’s defense. His new contract isn’t a budget-buster, as it’s only a slight increase from the $2.9 million per season of his previous deal.
