Ducks Re-sign Beauchemin.

Beauchemin to remain a Duck.

Various sources today report the Anaheim Ducks have re-signed defenseman Francois Beauchemin to a three-year contract extension worth $10.5 million, commencing in 2012-13. Beauchemin was eligible for UFA status this summer. His average annual cap hit will be $3.5 million, down slightly from the $3.8 million cap hit on his current deal.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Ducks management obviously want to maintain stability on the blueline. After going through a shaky start to the season along with his teammates, Beauchemin’s on pace for 31 points this season, and among the few Ducks with a plus-minus rating on the plus side (+1).

  1. Good move by the Ducks, Beauchemin can still play, and play well. Very underrated IMO.

  2. In the NHL, there are some players who seem to succeed only in either conferences. Beachemin and Giguere are cases in point, of two who are Western Conference guys.
