Flames sign Hudler.

Hudler a Flame.

TSN’s Darren Dreger reports the Calgary Flames have signed former Red Wings forward Jiri Hudler to a four-year deal worth $4 million per season.

SPECTOR’S NOTE:Flames GM Jay Feaster adds a younger scoring forward, something the Flames have been in need of for some time. Though Hudler’s been a consistent 50-plus point performer, it remains to be seen how well he’ll do away from the only NHL team he’s ever played for. He struggled in his first NHL season back from a brief foray into the KHL. It’s been suggested the Flames have overpaid, but considering what little was available in the UFA market, beggars can’t be choosers. If he can maintain a 50-point performance per season, it could be money well spent for the Flames otherwise anaemic offence.

  1. What is Feaster doing? :(

  2. This was an awesome signing and will do the club much better than Oil or some trade to get a 2nd rate centre. Hudler is coming from a winning organization and knows what it takes to win. This will help the first line and entire team! Have a little faith in Feaster, he has a plan! He’s won a cup before and knows a bit about building a winner!!
