The Calgary Flames have announced the trade of goaltender Henrik Karlsson to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2013.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Flames had to decide between Leland Irving and Karlsson as their backup and couldn’t carry both, having recently assigned the latter to the minors. Moving him for a draft pick also sheds his one-way, $862.5K cap hit for this season. The Blackhawks already have Corey Crawford and Ray Emery as their tandem, meaning Karlsson is likely headed to the ‘Hawks farm team.

Wasn’t he just on waivers? I don’t think Chicago was happy with Emery’s play against Phoenix.
