Flyers Re-sign Coburn.

New four-year extension for Coburn.

Various sources report the Philadelphia Flyers have re-signed defenseman Braydon Coburn to a four-year, $18 million contract extension, effective for the 2012-13 season. The new deal is worth an average cap hit of $4.5 million per season, a nice raise over the $3.2 million per season on his current deal.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: With Chris Pronger and Kimmo Timonen ageing, the Flyers will increasingly look toward shifting more responsibility and ice time upon younger blueliners like Coburn.

  1. A little more than I expected .. I thought 3.8 to 4.0 would certainly do it. Although he could have very well been offered close to 5.0m if he became a free agent. Kimmo’s contract expires after next season and will give the Flyers another 6.3m in cap space.
