Grossman earns new deal with Flyers.

PHILLY.COM: The Philadelphia Flyers have re-signed defenseman Nicklas Grossmann to a multi-year deal. Full terms have not yet been disclosed. The Flyers acquired Grossman from the Dallas Stars on February16, and in 22 games, Grossmann has 6 points and a plus-minus of +5.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Grossmann, 27, obviously made a positive impression upon Flyers management to earn an extension so quickly. Perhaps this is indicative that pending UFA Matt Carle might not be re-signed after this season. Grossmann earned $1.625 million this season, so it’ll be interesting to find out the amount and tenure of his new deal.

**UPDATE** CSNPhilly.com reports sources claim it’s a four-year deal worth $3.5 million per season, a nice raise indeed for someone who only played 22 games with the Flyers this season, pushing their payroll to over $62 million for 21 players next season.
