Jimmy Howard snubbed by NHL in All-Star ballots…Who replaces the injured Taylor Hall?…A look at some good things which have happened to the Blue Jackets this season…Is there a goalie controversy in Vancouver?…A complaint about Joffrey Lupul’s recent recent comments on his final days with the Ducks…What happened to Blake Comeau this summer?…A humorous comparison of Crosby and Ovechkin.

Snubbed by those who draw up NHL ballots?

THE HOCKEY WRITERS: Andrew Johnson on the NHL’s snub of Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard from its All-Star ballots, and makes a convincing case why he merits consideration for the ASG.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Despite Johnson’s convincing case, it’ll take lots of write-in votes for Howard to get a spot on the Western Conference roster for this year’s ASG. Red Wings fans, and fans of Howard, will have to step up and get those votes pouring in.

OILERNATION.COM: “Lowetide” on the possible replacement for injured young Oilers star Taylor Hall.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Magnus Paajarvi or Sam Gagner, your time to shine may be now.

THE CANNON: A list of several thing what have actually gone well for the Blue Jackets this season, including the play of rookie forward Ryan Johansen and that of call-up goalie Curtis Sanford.

NUCKS MISCONDUCT: Sean Zandberg puts the “goalie controversy” in Vancouver in perspective, pointing out all that matters is winning, hence you stick with the hot goalie, which in this case is Cory Schneider.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Yep, and it wouldn’t be the first time a team with an established starter rode their backup because he was playing better. Roberto Luongo won’t make a fuss over this.  This also highlights why the Canucks won’t be trading Schneider, despite how often the rumormongers keep linking him with other teams.

ANAHEIM CALLING: Jen Neale takes umbrage over former Ducks forward Joffrey Lupul’s critical comments toward his former GM and head coach upon his return from serious injury during his final days with the Ducks.

HOCKEY INDEPENDENT: B.D. Gallof on why the NY Islanders played Blake Comeau on the “bottom six” despite his 24 goal performance last season, and why a trade last summer of Comeau which was considered a certainty fell through.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Interesting stuff from B.D. as always. It’ll be worth watching Comeau’s performance with the Calgary Flames, who claimed him off waivers late last week, and see if the Isles were correct in their off-season assessment of him.
