In today’s medley of notable posts from the NHL blogosphere: a Coyotes fan really enjoyed watching her team defeat the old Thrashers… Who replaces Jason Blake for the Ducks?…Rangers fans shouldn’t panic…An appreciation of the moves made by Cliff Fletcher in his final season as Leafs GM…How NHL goalies used to look.

HIPCHECKS: “Jenna” really enjoyed watching the Coyotes beat the Thrashers…er, the former Jets beat the Thrashers….I mean, the old Jets beat the new Jets….

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Jenna wasn’t the only Coyotes fan to take great joy watching their club hammer the Winnipeg Jets 4-1. Can’t say I blame them, since their team and their market have been getting their share of slag from the Winnipeg media since that city got an NHL team back, and it wasn’t the old Jets.

ANAHEIM CALLING: “PhantomPretender” offers up some choices to replace injured Ducks forward Jason Blake, including Andrew Cogliano, Bobby Ryan and Dan Sexton.

BLUESHIRT BANTER: Joe Fortunato tries to talk nervous Rangers fans upset over their team’s slow start away from the ledge by reminding them it’s still early in the season.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The fans of several other NHL teams currently struggling from the gate – including those of last spring’s Cup Finalists – could probably use the same talk.

FIVE MINUTES FOR FIGHTING: Matt Horner offers up an appreciation of the performance of former Toronto Maple Leafs GM Cliff Fletcher in his final season on the job, which included dumping Bryan McCabe and his ridiculous salary to Florida, stealing Mikhail Grabovski from Montreal, and drafting Luke Schenn.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Yes, there was that gawd-awful Jeff Finger contract, but overall, the good Fletcher did that year outweighed the bad.

GREATEST HOCKEY LEGENDS: Joe Pelletier present a picture of old-time NHL goalie Lorne Chabot:

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Can you imagine today’s NHL goalies going between the pipes wearing that equipment?
