SPECTOR’S NOTE: The deal is $2 million next season and $2.5 million in 2015-16, for an average cap hit of $2.25 million. An affordable signing by the Hurricanes. In 23 games he has a 13-8-0 record with a 2.17 GAA and .927 SP.

Khudobin’s performance this season has some observers wondering about starter Cam Ward’s future in Carolina. Remains to be seen, but if they decide to keep Ward they’ve got a reliable backup for him over the next two seasons. This could also mean Justin Peters is on his way out via trade before the deadline.

Great job signing Dobby! Now Carolina needs to off Ward’s contract.
