Kovalchuk threatens to remain in KHL post-NHL lockout.

NBC SPORTS PRO HOCKEY TALK: Ilya Kovalchuk has become the latest Russian player threatening to remain in the KHL post-NHL lockout.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Good luck with that, Ilya. I’m sure the New Jersey Devils lawyers would be more than happy to explain the many millions of legal reasons why you won’t be allowed to do that.

THE TENNESSEAN: Sergei Kostitsyn clarified his recent comments where he said he hoped the NHL season was lost to a lockout, claiming he enjoys playing in America and Nashville.

CSNNE.COM: Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask suffered a groin injury playing in the Czech Republic. Rask claimed it was a “slight” groin pull and wasn’t serious.

RSPORT.RU: Evander Kane has been suspended one game by the KHL  after a check to the head of Avangard Omsk defenseman Nikita Pivtsakin on Monday.

DENVER POST: Matt Duchene scored a goal for the Frolunda Indians in their 3-1 victory over Timra in Swedish League action on Saturday.

KHL.RU: Nail Yakupov scored the game-winner as Neftekhimik edged Sibir 5-4.

NATIONAL LEAGUE.CH: Joe Thornton, Rick Nash and Petr Sykora combined for two of HC Davos’ four goals, leading their club to a 4-2 win over SCL Tigers…Tyler Seguin had a hat trick leading EHC Biel to a 5-4 victory over Ambri-Piotta…Jason Spezza had a goal as Rappersil-Jona Lakers blanked SC Bern 3-0…Logan Couture has two assists as Geneve Servete downed Fribourg 5-1.
