Mike Cammalleri hoping for a bounce-back season, P.K. Subban unconcerned over contract talks, and Nail Yakupov on his lockout plans.

Cammalleri hopes to rebound this season.

CALGARY SUN: Flames winger Mike Cammalleri is hoping to rebound from an injury-shortened 2011-12 season which also saw him move from Montreal to Calgary.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: If the Flames hope to make the playoffs this season (whenever it starts), they’ll need a healthy Cammalleri to regain his scoring touch.

CANOE.CA: Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban continues to train in Toronto and remains unconcerned over his contract negotiations.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Some of my readers have suggested Subban is being “jerked over” and should be traded. Again, some contract negotiations take longer than others, and Subban’s not the only notable RFA (Evander Kane, Jamie Benn, John Carlson, Michael Del Zotto) yet to be re-signed. He doesn’t want a trade, and I don’t believe the Canadiens want to move him.

NATIONAL POST: Edmonton Oilers rookie Nail Yakupov is uncertain over his plans in the event of an NHL lockout, but he ruled out a return to the OHL and the Sarnia Sting.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I expect he’ll head over to the KHL.

Subban is obviously also waiting for the CBA stuff to take shape. It sounds like a salary system may be close then it’s just the less important stuff to hammer out. He’s smart to wait. If there’s the drop then there will have to be a buyout period that could include up to 2-4 players per team. If that’s a option then say good bye to Gomez, Kaberle, and possibly Bourque. There’s 15 million plus the 6+ they are already under. Gives them money for Subban and Galchenyuk (should he impress out of camp). I really hope the nhlpa can just make minor tweaks to the NHL’s proposal. Seems pretty fair salary wise considering that the owners will get what they want eventually. I think that the six year plan is good for he smaller teams because it gives them a great anticipation as to what their payrolls will be with no surprises. It also works for players because they will still be paid like spoiled brats and pampered by their rich owners. JUST SETTLE THIS ALREADY!!!! lol. Please?
