Jagr sidelined by injury.

HOKEJ.CZ: Jaromir Jagr continues to be sidelined with an undisclosed injury suffered during a Czech Extraliga game last Thursday.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: It’s believed to be a nagging groin injury, which has plagued him for much of his career.

CBC.CA: Montreal Canadiens center Tomas Plekanec is enjoying playing hockey for his hometown team of HC Kladno.

 NBCSPORTS PRO HOCKEY TALK: Boston Bruins center David Krejci lashed out at NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, saying he thinks Bettman considers NHL players to be “animals”.

TORONTO SUN: Nashville Predators forward Sergei Kostitsyn is enjoying life so much in the KHL, he hopes the NHL lockout wipes out this NHL season.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Regardless of whether Krejci or Kostitsyn were quoted directly or misquoted, their comments aren’t going to win them any plaudits from NHL fans. For the record, Krejci is earning $5.25 million per season as an NHL “animal”, while Kostitsyn will make $3 million per with the Predators.

NORTHJERSEY.COM: Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov suffered a fractured bone in one of his feet playing a KHL game and is expected to miss four-to-six weeks as a result.

KHL.RU: Alexander Ovechkin had a goal and an assist, while teammates Nicklas Backstrom chipped in an assist, as Moscow Dynamo blanked Lokomotiv Yaroslavl 3-0…Ilya Kovalchuk had a goal and an assist as SKA St. Petersburg edged Atlant 3-2….Evgeni Malkin had a goal and three assists leading Mettalurg Magnitogorsk to a 5-2 victory over Dinamo Riga. Nikolai Kulemin had a goal and an assist for Mettalurg.
