Latest on the Oilers, Maple Leafs and Senators – August 17, 2012.

How a possible NHL lockout could affect Oilers forward Nail Yakupov, Maple Leafs winger Matt Frattin, and Ottawa-area fans and businesses.

Yakupov hopes his NHL debut won’t be delayed.

EDMONTON SUN: Oilers rookie winger Nail Yakupov hopes a lockout won’t postpone his possible NHL debut this season.

TORONTO SUN: Maple Leafs winger Matt Frattin could benefit from a lockout, as it would allow him more time to recuperate from off-season knee surgery, and thus perhaps be fully recovered whenever training camp opens.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The same goes for several NHL players still nursing injuries. The longer a lockout lasts, the greater their opportunity to be fully rehabbed and ready for training camp, whenever it finally starts, without missing any playing time in the regular season.

OTTAWA SUN: Ottawa-area fans and businesses are preparing for the possibility of another NHL lockout.
