Latest on the Red Wings, Bruins, Flyers and Penguins – February 27, 2012.

A quick look at possible moves by Detroit, Boston, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

DETROIT NEWS/MLIVE.COM: Red Wings GM Ken Holland is hoping to add a forward with size and grit by today’s deadline. Options include Montreal’s Travis Moen, Columbus’ Samuel Pahlsson, Washington’s Mike Knuble, Buffalo’s Paul Gaustad. Holland isn’t expecting to shop for a defenseman despite losing Jonathan Ericsson for a month to a fractured arm.

BOSTON HERALD/BOSTON GLOBE: Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli is shopping for depth at forward and defense. Options could include Columbus’ Samuel Pahlsson and Carolina’s Jaroslav Spacek.

PHILLY.COM/PHILLYBURBS.COM: Though GM Paul Holmgren is listening to offers, don’t expect a rush by him to make moves at the trade deadline. Holmgren has said he’s not in the market for a goaltender.

PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE REVIEW/PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE: Penguins GM Ray Shero could stand pat today, claiming he’s currently not working on any deals.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: To summarize: Red Wings and Bruins likely to make moves today, the Flyers may or may not, and if so, it’ll be depth moves, not a blockbuster deal, while the Penguins aren’t expected to make any significant moves today.

  1. Pahlsson I have a strong feeling lands in Detroit, he is just the right person for this team! Every time I see that name connected to the Wings it just makes sense to me and honestly think he is all they need to put them over the top. But I could also see Wings leading a race for Moen or Ott IF they end up being moved which I doubt.

Boston I think will be the biggest front runner for Spacek. We have heard everyone talk about Spacek in the playoffs and nobody knows that better then the Bruins who have had two years of grueling series against the past two years. Spacek is a great shot blocker and a short term rental who wouldn’t cost much.

  2. Hearing San Jose is offering Antti Niemi for JVR ……????…..does that mean Bobrivski is on the way out and
who would replace Niemi ???? Stanley cup goalie !!

wierd offer is Philly that desperate for a Goalie and if so why wouldnt you go after Ryan Miller with JVR or Coutourier…instead if thats the case!

  3. I hope that Flyers rumor is not true … giving up JVR better be for something a lot better than Niemi.

  4. It seems san Jose is really willing to move at least one or two core players to make a big deal today ….I feel Wilson is on the hot seat as they will have to face Detroit LA or Canucks ..he has no choice to make an impact!…..OR HES FIRED!
