The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced the re-signing of goaltender Ben Bishop to a two-year contract extension worth $4.6 million.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Less than two week after acquiring Bishop from the Ottawa Senators, the Lightning wasted little time getting him under contract. The deal breaks down to an affordable $2.3 million per season, which is a fair salary for a promising NHL goalie. In six games with the Lightning, he has a 2-3 record with a .916 SP and one shutout. The Bolts evidently liked what they’ve seen in Bishop’s short tenure. He and Anders Lindback will jockey next season for the starter’s role.
