Lightning re-sign Hedman.

Hedman re-signed by Bolts.

Various sources report via Twitter the Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed defenseman Victor Hedman to a five-year extension. Details to follow.

**UPDATE** TSN reports the deal could be worth around $20 million, which would be an average cap hit of $4 million per season.

TAMPABAY.COM: Damian Cristodero has reaction from Hedman and the Lightning.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Hedman has been improving with each season, and at only 20, his best seasons remain well in front of him. While the extension may seem a bit pricey, it could be considered a bargain in the later years if he continues to improve.

  1. Wow, I don’t watch Tampa much but am I crazy to say is way to high?

  2. Tampa isn’t paying him for his draft position or his potential. He plays top 4 dman minutes against other teams top lines. He’s not very physical, but he gets the job done better then guys making almost the same on our team (looking at you Pavel and Brett). He is twenty years old and sees the game very well. Does he make mistakes? Yes, but at 20 years old, it’s going to happen.
