The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired defenseman Andrew MacDonald from the NY Islanders in exchange for a third-round pick in 2014 and a second-round pick in 2015.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Looks like there wasn’t anyone willing to offer up the first rounder the Islanders reportedly sought for MacDonald.  MacDonald is a good two-way defenseman who logs big minutes and should take some pressure off ageing Kimmo Timonen in the short-term. His performance down the stretch and into the playoffs (if the Flyers clinch a berth) could determine if he has a future in Philly beyond this season.

snow should be arrested for the way he’s screwed over the islanders’ fans this year.
if there really was no market for mcdonald then so be it, but you have to give it some time. i’m sure some desperate GM would have offered up a better offer as all the other names started sliding off the board.
