A look ahead to future moves by the Lightning…Overblowing Sidney Crosby’s concussion…The Predators are comeback kids…Do the Hurricanes possess the blueprint to beat the Bruins?…How can the Islanders dump Rick DiPietro’s contract?…An apology for guessing wrong about the Senators, Rangers and Lightning…The good, bad and ugly of Martin Brodeur returning to the Devils for another season…A crazy Hurricanes stick contest…Wacky trade rumors about the Sharks…ten myths about Canadians…The pros and cons of the Red Wings and Maple Leafs meeting in the Winter Classic.

RAW CHARGE: “CAustin” on who the Tampa Bay Lightning should sign this summer, while John Fontana doubts the Lightning’s recent history regarding quick fixes won’t be repeated.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Lightning GM Steve Yzerman’s come under a lot of criticism lately for his club’s poor performance this season, especially their lack of quality goaltending and defensive depth. Yes, Yzerman made some mistakes, though considering the Bolts surprising performance last season, it was understandable. Yzerman isn’t stupid, and will learn from these mistakes. He’ll do a better job this summer addressing his club’s needs.

NBC SPORTS PRO HOCKEY TALK: James O’Brien believes the suggestion by some in the media that Sidney Crosby’s career may be doomed, or he may never be the same player again, to be overblown. I share O’Brien’s opinion.

RED LIGHT DISTRICT HOCKEY BLOG: Ryan Porth on how the Nashville Predators have been staging comeback wins this season. In other words, don’t take this time for granted when taking a lead over them into the third period.

THE HOCKEY WRITERS: Bob Mand examines how the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Boston Bruins three times this season, suggesting it a possible blueprint for other clubs to derail the Cup champions.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: It could also just be a case of a top team having difficulty with one particular, inferior team.

Cost for Isles to buy out DiPietro expensive.

OFFSIDE: A SPORTS LAW BLOG: Eric Macaramalla on what it would take for the NY Islanders to get out of oft-injured goalie Rick DiPietro’s lengthy contract. Another way is to hope for another “one-time-only, one-player-only, penalty-free” buyout period at the start of the next CBA.

BACKHAND SHELF: Justin Bourne’s mea culpas regarding Brian Elliott, the Ottawa Senators, NY Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning. Don’t feel bad, Justin, you weren’t the only one who guessed wrong (looks skyward, attempts to slink away, whistling…).

PUCKS AND PITCHFORKS: James Peterson on the good, the bad and the ugly if Martin Brodeur decides to return for another season with the Devils. I’m guessing there would be more bad and ugly than good.

DEADSPIN: presents the most bizarre, potentially futile contest to win a stick signed by Hurricanes stars Jeff Skinner, Eric Staal, and Cam Ward. And yes, it’s a real contest!

BLADES OF TEAL: A look at some fun, weird trade rumors involving Sharks forward Ryane Clowe, which I can confirm are bogus.

BATTLE OF CALIFORNIA: For Sharks fans following their team as they play five Canadian teams in a row, here’s ten myths about Canadians. Here’s another: we don’t say “aboot”. It’s “aboat”. If you’re gonna mock how we say “about”, get it right!

DOWN GOES BROWN: The pros and cons of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings meeting in the Winter Classic. You’ll laugh, you’ll love, and maybe, just maybe, learn something about yourself.
