GRANTLAND: Katie Baker once again looks at the NHL week that was, including the Tim Thomas White House brouhaha.

JAPERS’ RINK: Defending Alexander Ovechkin’s decision not to attend the All-Star Game, suggesting his presence while suspended would’ve been as much of a distraction than if he went. Some good points here,  but his decision not to go raised more attention than if he had decided to attend.

THE CANNON: Blue Jackets majority owner J.P. McConnell sent a letter out today to the team’s season ticket holders, apologizing for the way this season has gone, and promising changes could be coming.

THE HOCKEY GUYS: Lukas Hardonk lists the reasons why Jeff Carter isn’t the right guy for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The financial reasons are the best ones.

THE LEAFS NATION: Danny Gray chides the NHL for its sexism during last night’s All-Star draft.

More valuable than Habs fans realize?

JETS NATION: Cam Charron points out Scott Gomez is actually more valuable to the Montreal Canadiens than his critics believe, suggesting his huge salary overshadows the solid contributions he makes to the Habs, and their winning record when he’s in the lineup. Excellent points, but most fans won’t get past that $7 million-plus per season cap hit.

FLAME FOR THOUGHT: Dave Church explains why Calgary Flames management is push hard for a playoff berth this season.

GREATEST HOCKEY LEGENDS: Joe Pelletier offers up his memories of All-Star games past.

DAYS OF Y’ORR: present: the dumbest thing you’ll see this week, as some whistlehead started a petition calling on the Bruins to trade Tim Thomas.

PUCK DADDY: Presents: Funny or Die meets the Los Angeles Kings!

OFFSIDE: A SPORTS LAW BLOG: Presents, for those of you who can’t attend this week’s All-Star festivities in Ottawa: Some overhead pics of those festivities. Enjoy!
