The Penguins lose two more skilled players…trade options for Jeff Carter…Why the NHLPA “prolonged” realignment…The Oilers need to bolster their goaltending…Should the Flames fire their coach?…The rebuilding options facing the Ducks…Is Sabres GM Darcy Regier bluffing, or incapable?…Is Nashville becoming a hockey town?

Jordan Staal is out six weeks with a knee injury.

PUCK DADDY: Greg Wyshynski reports the Penguins lost two more key players to injury, as Jordan Staal is out six weeks with a knee injury, while James Neal has a broken foot. Wyshynski believes it’s up to head coach Dan Bylsma and forward Evgeni Malkin to prevent the Penguins from going into a tailspin. He forgot to add goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. If they lose Fleury, they’re well and truly screwed.

CBJ BLOG: Examines potential trade destinations for Jeff Carter if the Blue Jackets decide to shop him.

THE HOCKEY GUYS: Mike Luciano on why the NHLPA was rightful in prolonging realignment.

PUCK DRUNK LOVE: J.P. Quayle believes it’s more important for the Edmonton Oilers to land a quality starting goalie than fixing their suspect defense. I believe he’s right, though they should try to address the D in conjunction with pursuing a good young goalie.

MATCHSTICKS AND GASOLINE: ArikJames on why Brent Sutter is a perfectly capable coach, just not the right one for the Flames.

ANAHEIM CALLING: Daniel AC on why it would be best for the Ducks to replace Bob Murray as GM rather than entrust him to rebuild the roster.

SABRE NOISE: Chris Elardo wonders if Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier is truly shopping around to bolster his team, if he’s bluffing, or just incapable of finding a good deal. I’d suggest it’s more because there’s currently not a lot of sellers, but that’ll change in the next few weeks, though maybe not in time to save the Sabres season. We’ll see.

BACKHAND SHELF: Chris Lund believes Nashville is becoming a hockey town. I believe it’s been one for some time, they just needed a competitive team to get behind, which they’ve done in recent years in a big way.

If the oilers could find someone to take Khabby at the trade deadline, maybe tampa again? Fanfreakingtastic! Dubnyk will turn into an Auld at very best, the team plays on eggshells infront of him. Maybe we could pry one of the goalies out of Buffalo, Miller would cost a fortune, Enroth slightly less. One thing Sather did for the Oilers was to always have a top tier goaltender, hopefully that day comes again with the Slats of course.

The oil are going to be a solid team within the next couple years. I have to agree though that a goalie would 1st. Then the D. Every winner team has a top quality goalie. Definitely priority 1, but it’s got to be good as a oiler fan just watching the fuse burn waiting on that explosion of talent to just become dominant. I would pray for my team to have eberle, RNH, or Hall right now.
