  1. Mirtle is the troll of the mainstream Toronto media. He always claims to be just saying what “the stats are”, but for some reason doesnt seem to notice that hes picking which stats to rely on. If the Leafs dont make the playoffs, they suck. If the Leafs do make the playoffs, well they shouldnt have, because they suck.

  2. Agreed on mirtle aka Debbie downer.

  3. Well James Mirtie, the Leafs won tonight in Ottawa and thereby clinched a playoff spot so I have 2 words for you and your pessimism. One starts with F and the other ends with F and I’ll let you use your imagination to figure out the missing letters. Congratulations Maple Leafs and they’re long suffering fans as the post season does await you for the first time in a very long time. Hopefully the stay will be greater than 4 games

  4. Mirtle not that bad. I think his words are backed up by the stats he presents, not to say his stats are a perfect picture but he is a lot closer than most writers and yes like all writers, you have to write for page views, even if it means going out on a limb and pick unpopular stances. Lets face it, I would rather read Mirtle than almost anyone else…he’s no Freiman but he’s definitely no Cox, Burger or Simmonds.
