LA PRESSE: Max Pacioretty had a hat trick and Scott Gomez scored his first goal in a year as the Montreal Canadiens downed the NY Islanders 4-2.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Disgruntled Habs fans can now stop mocking Gomez for his scoreless streak and return to bitching about his high salary.

OTTAWA CITIZEN: Chris Phillips ensured his 1, 000th NHL game was memorable, as he scored twice to help the Senators snap a seven-game losing skid, beating the Nashville Predators 4-3.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Senators and their fans also gave former Senator Mike Fisher a nice tribute for his ten years with the team.

Henrik Sedin remains an ironman.

VANCOUVER PROVINCE: Henrik Sedin maintained his ironman streak, as the Canucks downed the Minnesota Wild 5-2.

TORONTO SUN: The Maple Leafs are prepared to face the cameras of HBO in the leadup for next year’s Winter Classic against Detroit.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Let’s hope they’re not overshadowed by their outspoken coach and general manager.

  1. Seriously though, are the Habs so bad that Gomez (on a 368 day goal-less drought) was on their powerplay last night???

  2. Patches had the least celebrated hat trick I’ve ever seen lol. Great for him though, I believe he’s from New York? Feel free to correct me. The habs are reason me with hope right now… If they can beat the Leafs I’ll start getting the playoff feeling back.

  3. Patches is from a New York suburb (you might know it as Connecticut). But I agree good for him. Yeah looking forward to Saturday’s game as well.

  4. Leafs will face extra scrutiny from the fans and media should they lose again to Montreal on Saturday. As Lyle says, lets hope too that Burke and Wilson don’t talk too much and really bring the heat down upon the team

  5. true toughness isn’t hitting it’s taking a hit to make a play and in turn win the game. Henrik and Daniel roll off hits every game they play and they play the tough minutes against the best checkers and the top defensive pairings which makes their accomplishments even more impressive. make no mistake years from now the same players that cut them down will be bragging to their kids that they played against them.
