Latest on the Senators, Jets and Oilers.

OTTAWA SUN: Don Brennan lists several physical forwards the Senators should pursue, including Boston’s Shawn Thornton, Colorado’s Steve Downie, Dallas’ Brenden Morrow, Minnesota’s Cal Clutterbuck, and the NY Rangers’ Brandon Dubinsky.  Brennan admits, however, many of the names on his list are “wishful thinking”.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: All of those I noted are wishful thinking. The others he lists, however, are realistic options.

Wellwood returns with Jets.

WINNIPEG FREE PRESS: Kyle Wellwood is comfortable returning to the Jets on a one-year contract.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: If he has another season as he did in 2011-12 (a career-best 47 points), he’ll earn a longer-term deal from the Jets after this one.

EDMONTON JOURNAL: Jonathan Willis reports nearly $200 million in financing is still needed to fund a new downtown arena for the Oilers.

Thornton signed a new contract for 2 years to remain a Broon. He loves it there and isn’t going anywhere.

They just signed their no-talent goon Chris Neal to an extension. He’ll be cheap-shotting people another 3 years in Ottawa.

    Glass houses…. ^^^

    • Ranzeir says:

Glasshouses indeed. Surprised, or maybe I shouldn’t be, that DaBroons would post something like this. Maybe it was the way that Neil took down Chara that’s picking his rear. ‘Pot call the kettle black’…

  3. DaBroons says:

Neil is a head hunter. That’s the difference.

  4. graham gordon says:

Neiler is one of the best hard hitters in the game. He has never been suspended during his entire NHL career, so Bull**** on the headhunter comment. Chris is also one of the few players in the league who willingly fights above his weight class. Look out Zdeno, he’s back!!! In his ten year NHL career, he has 200 points in 731 games played. In Thornton’s nine NHL seasons, he has 73 points in 450 games. The numbers aren’t even close. Unanimous decision to Chris Neil.

  5. The Canadian Friend says:

As a Leafs fan, I despise Chris Neil. I mean that as a sincere compliment.
