Senators buy out Bobby Butler, Justin Schultz’ response to Twitter criticism from angry Ducks fans, Jannik Hansen suspended for one game by IIHF and Flames re-sign Leland Irving.

OTTAWA CITIZEN: As expected, the Senators bought out the final year of forward Bobby Butler’s contract.

Schultz not bothered by Twitter criticism from angry Ducks fans.

EDMONTON JOURNAL: New Oilers defenseman Justin Schultz isn’t letting Twitter attacks from angry Anaheim Ducks fans get him down. Schultz opted not to sign with the Ducks, becoming an unrestricted free agent and inking an entry-level deal with the Oilers.

VANCOUVER SUN: The IIHF has suspended Canucks forward Jannik Hansen one game for fighting during a World Hockey Championship game.

 CALGARY HERALD: The Flames have re-signed goalie Leland Irving to a one-year, two-way contract.

    Do you know if there is any interest in Bobby Butler? What would be the cost of signing him after being bought out?

    • Haven’t heard of any, but of course he only just appeared on the free agent market. Perhaps a club seeking forward depth will take a chance on him,but he’s been compared to Brandon Bochenski, so buyer beware!
