Another update on P.K. Subban, latest on the Oilers and Flames, and a recent death notice takes a parting shot at the Maple Leafs.

NHL.COM: Although P.K. Subban is reluctant to discuss the details of his contract negotiations with the Montreal Canadiens, he stressed his desire to re-sign a long-term extension with the club. “Obviously I remain adamant on remaining in Montreal and being a Montreal Canadien, and not just for a long time but hopefully for the rest of my career, and be a lifer there,” Subban told Breakfast Television in Toronto earlier this week. “I really enjoy playing there.”

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Subban also took part in a skit with Seth Rogen during Montreal’s annual “Just for Laughs” comedy festival. I believe we’ll hear of the Canadiens re-signing him to a long-term extension before his arbitration hearing this Friday.

EDMONTON JOURNAL: Bruce McCurdy examines the Oilers options for improving their depth at center from within the organization.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I have a feeling Oilers management will try to bring in a center via trade or free agency before this season begins.

CALGARY HERALD: Recently re-signed defenseman Mark Cundari hopes to crack the Flames roster full time this season.

TORONTO STAR: “A Hamilton man’s last wish was for the Toronto Maple Leafs to be the pallbearers at his funeral “so they could let him down one last time.”

  1. Well Poulin and Loiselle were out of work and had nothing else to do, really it was the least they could have done.

  2. Hey Lyle,

Hear anything about a trade between the Habs and the Oilers? The local radio in MTL has been talking about the excess of centers (Plek, Gally, DD, Eller, Malhotra), which I’m sure one would be of interest to a team like Edmonton looking for a center.

    • Nothing so far about the Habs and Oilers. Doesn’t mean they’re not talking but if they are they’re keeping it very quiet.

      • DD for Yakupov including other assets to balance it out a bit more makes total sense. Both teams fill a need..
