NHL Canadian Corner – June 12, 2012.

Oilers bring back Craig MacTavish, a possible candidate to coach the Canucks farm team, dismissing a rumor about P.K. Subban, and the Jets depth on right wing.

Oiler bring back MacTavish.

EDMONTON SUN: The Oilers yesterday announced the hiring of former Oilers player/head coach Craig MacTavish as their vice-president hockey operations.

VANCOUVER PROVINCE: Former Manitoba Moose coach Scott Arniel could be a candidate to replace MacTavish as head coach of the Canucks AHL affiliate in Chicago.

MONTREAL GAZETTE: Pat Hickey reports no matter which direction the Canadiens go with their first round pick (third overall) in this year’s entry draft, they won’t package it with defenseman P.K. Subban to try to tempt the Oilers into parting with their first overall pick.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Thank you, Pat Hickey, for being the voice of reason and dismissing that stupid, web-oriented rumor about Subban. The Habs aren’t parting with P.K., rumormongers. Period.

WINNIPEG FREE PRESS: Examining the Jets depth on right wing and if they’ll make any moves to address it.

  1. As much as I’d love to have Yakupov in a habs jersey, PK is too much to pay and I can’t imagine this is news to anyone with a brain. A RHD with his potential is too valuable to the habs.
