NHL Canadian Corner – June 13, 2012

Seven potential trade partners for the Canucks, more on Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec, the off-season issues for the Senators, and the Leafs are well-positioned in this year’s draft.

Which teams could have interest in Canucks goalies?

VANCOUVER PROVINCE: A look at seven teams which could be potential trade partners as the Canucks shop a goalie, including the Chicago Blackhawks and Columbus Blue Jackets.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: If the Canucks trade a goalie, it’s widely assumed it’ll be Roberto Luongo, not Cory Schneider.

YAHOO! SPORTS’ Dimitry Chesnokov reported via Twitter KHL team SKA St. Petersburg has interest in Winnipeg Jets goaltender Ondrej Pavelec.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: It’s rumored they could offer him an expensive, one-year contract, though it’s felt Pavelec could use this as leverage for a lucrative, multi-year contract with the Jets, as well as possible insurance in case there’s an NHL lockout next season.

OTTAWA SUN: Bruce Garrioch looks at the off-season issues facing the Senators, including the future plans of captain Daniel Alfredsson, and re-signing Norris trophy nominee Erik Karlsson.

TORONTO SUN: Lance Hornby believes the Maple Leafs are well-positioned with the fifth overall pick to pursue size or scoring at this year’s entry draft.
