Leafs still keen to re-sign Dave Bolland.

TORONTO SUN/TORONTO STAR: Steve Buffery interviewed Maple Leafs GM Dave Nonis, who said there’s no movement yet on hiring new assistant coaches, still prefers to move up in the first round of this year’s draft, remains hopeful of re-signing Dave Bolland, anticipates a busy offseason around the league (especially trades and free agency) and dismissed talk of moving Jake Gardiner from defense to forward. Mark Zwolinski caught up with Darcy Tucker, whose buyout finally comes off the Leafs books in July. Tucker is partners in a player agency.

VANCOUVER PROVINCE/NBC SPORTS: Jim Jamieson reports former Penguins coach Dan Bylsma was interviewed for the Canucks head coaching role, and also reports the club has yet to open contract talks with RFA defenseman Chris Tanev. Jason Brough cited a recent radio interview by pending UFA center Mike Santorelli, who wants to remain with the Canucks.

SPORTSNET/EDMONTON JOURNAL: Mark Spector reports Oilers free agent forward Ben Eager is heading to the KHL, while John MacKinnon reports Oilers captain Andrew Ference has won the King Clancy Trophy for his involvement in community and humanitarian issues.

WINNIPEG FREE PRESS/NBC SPORTS: Ed Tait wonders if soon-to-be UFA Jordin Tootoo would be a good fit with the Jets, while Mike Halford cites a Czech report claiming Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec isn’t worried about receiving a compliance buyout.

CALGARY HERALD: The Flames have flown in top NHL prospects Aaron Ekblad, Sam Bennett and Sam Reinhart for private meetings.

OTTAWA SUN: The Senators will open next season in Nashville.

MONTREAL GAZETTE: The Canadiens will retire Hall of Fame defenseman Guy Lapointe’s number 5.

    Flames hoping one of the “big three” slip to the fourth spot, or debating if it is worth trading up to grab one of them?

    Glad to see Lapointe will finally get his due from the organization he served so faithfully. Always felt he was overshadowed and undervalued on those great Habs’ teams of the ’70s. In all honesty, this honor should have happened years ago!
