Senators to re-sign Milan Michalek?

OTTAWA SUN: Bruce Garrioch reports the Senators scouting staff is prepared for anything at the NHL Draft next week in Philadelphia. The club has also made a significant offer to pending UFA winger Milan Michalek. They’ve also re-signed winger Mike Hoffman to a one-year, two-way contract and  re-sign defenseman Erik Gryba next week. Contract talks with goalie Robin Lehner could drag on into the summer. Stephane Da Costa has decided to play in the KHL next season.

TORONTO STAR: Mark Zwolinski reports the Maple Leafs face a lengthy “to-do” list this summer. In addition to possible trades, they must hire new assistant coaches and decide which of their pending free agents to re-sign. They’ve been linked to Shawn Thornton and Dan Boyle in the rumor mill. Dion Phaneuf, Nazem Kadri and Jake Gardiner have also been mentioned in trade rumors.

WINNIPEG SUN/WINNIPEG FREE PRESS:  Ken Wiebe considers the status of Evander Kane the biggest question hanging over the Jets’ offseason. They must also find a suitable backup goalie, upgrade their bottom-six forwards, and determine who’ll step up on their defense. Ed Tait believes the club’s weakest link could be at center.

NBC SPORTS: The Vancouver Canucks will reportedly try to move Jordan Schroeder leading up to this year’s draft.

LA PRESSE:  Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin is willing to move up in this year’s draft. The Habs currently hold the 26th overall pick.

CALGARY SUN: With Chris Butler set to depart via the UFA market, it’s an opportunity for Tyler Wotherspoon to crack the Flames blueline.

    • DChamp, I’m curious, what team(s) do you support and why all the hate for the Senator’s?

  2. wow is all I can say looking at Shawn Thornton Dan Boyle in Out Phaneuf Kadri and Gardiner, not that I expect all this to happen but if it does someone should let the bus drivers know that this year we are going backwards off the cliff.
